Changes in calculation method of IMDG surcharge as from 1.1.2026

Please note that Transfennica will change the calculation method of the IMDG surcharge as of 1 January, 2026.

The reduced IMDG surcharge applies only to the return of empty, uncleaned tank containers (requires that a loaded unit has been shipped with Transfennica).

All other units will be charged the full IMDG surcharge (including units containing small quantities of IMDG).

There will also be a change in the invoicing procedure of units carrying multiple IMDG’s. The basic IMDG surcharge will include 1-5 IMDG lines per unit. Thereafter additional costs will be charged based on table below.
