Third release of the EU's customs pre-arrival Safety and Security System-ICS2
11 December, 2024

ICS2 is the upgrade for the existing ICS1 European Union Customs safety and security system; the system goes live 04.12.2024 and will affect Transfennica bookings from GB to the European Union.

Transfennica has already been lodging the ENS for the ICS1 system, and the requirements will remain mainly the same, please see the exact requirements below. Transfennica will keep sending the complete ENS on Your behalf also for the ICS2 upgrade.

What are the mandatory requirements?

  • Commodity codes on an 8-digit level; this has already been our requirement for ICS1 in order to fully comply with ICP checks and in order for Customs to easily identify goods arriving into the Union.

  • Cargo description on a detailed level, we will require the cargo description on goods item level with the common trade name. Please check the European Commission’s guide - Guidance on acceptable and unacceptable terms for the description of goods.

  • Complete and accurate seller and buyer address and EORI number when applicable. The new ICS2 release will require full contact details such as name and full address for each goods item, along with the EORI number if the company has applied for one.

  • Seller: The seller of the goods on a goods item level
  • Buyer: The buyer of the goods on a goods item level

In the near future, Transfennica will have some additional requirements for export groupage loads in order to ease the transition to the ICS2 system upgrade.
